My Hero

          All in all, my personal hero would be my great grandfather, Ted Shinkle, who passed away in the summer of 2009. I have several reasons for calling him a hero, one of them being that he was a strong and honest man. He was also a patriot, he served in the army during World War II, and always supported his country. However, the thing that really makes him a hero in my eyes is the fact that he was a man who loved his family. I remember opening gifts on Christmas at his house, and jumping at the sound of fireworks on the Fourth of July. Everybody in my family loved him, and we all dropped tears at his funeral. Life will never be the same without him, but he will never be forgotten.
